Dietary Aide (Wait staff) (Food Services)



Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learn and follow food service routines within a short period.
  • Set up meal trays and strip down returned trays.
  • Operate the dishwasher; observe and record water and chlorine temperatures.
  • Wash dishes and maintain clean dish areas.
  • Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks.
  • Prepare nourishments and assist with grocery storage in a safe and organized manner.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including surfaces, refrigerators, and floors.
  • Sweep, mop, and take out trash and garbage as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with cooks and dietary supervisors.
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include any supervisory duties.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous dietary or food service experience preferred but not required.

Certificates and Licenses:
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid food handler's certificate.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures and recipes.
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Capable of effectively communicating with supervisors and co-workers.

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to apply basic math, including fractions, ratios, and percentages, in daily tasks.

Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a kitchen setting.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
