Shipping Department Lead (Manufacturing)



Timken Distribution Center is currently seeking Shipping Department Leads on 1st & 2nd Shifts for its facility located in Duncan, SC. A successful warehouse employee values safety, accuracy, productivity, and customer service.

1st Shift Work Schedule: 7am-3pm Monday through Friday, plus overtime as required.

2nd Shift Work Schedule: 3pm-11pm Monday through Friday, plus overtime as required.

Compensation Details:

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to lead and coordinate the handling of various domestic and export orders per customer and order fulfillment demands. This lead position is responsible for the direction of daily activity that can include order tracking, order expediting, transportation arrangements, advanced shipping notification or other electronic communication, order and invoice processing, shipment verification, and more. In addition, this position is responsible for the timely shipment of completed orders to meet customer requirements. The lead position is also responsible for the direction of other activities in the area as they apply to the timely shipment of product. This person will be required to share information and communication with the 'DDC Shipping' email distribution list.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule carrier pick-ups through web-based portals, email or phone calls for all applicable customers as needed.
  • Main resource for shipping information involving domestic, export shipments and expedited freight.
  • Respond to inquiries from customer service, forwarders and carriers. Could also include frequent trips to the facility floor with interaction, or radio contact with other team members.
  • Perform analysis on missing freight, missing shipments, incorrectly delivered product, incorrect payment terms and communicate status with the other team members.
  • Process all paperwork and/or electronic data entry required to support all customer and billing requirements.
  • Assist and communicate with the processing of all orders that are generated electronically or received by email or telephone call.
  • E nsure all shipping documents are error free and provided to the carrier and/or freight forwarder.
  • Schedule expedited shipments and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Manage containers and trailers to ensure availability and timely shipping.
  • Maintain daily contact with transport carriers on shipping needs and schedules.
  • Ensure customer lane is checked, verified, processed and carrier notified for pick up.
  • Verify the Timken bill of lading matches customer bill of lading and that the correct bill of lading is provided to the carrier.
  • Expert knowledge for custom critical freight, such as, DHL, UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Panther and FedEx Custom Critical, etc.
  • Perform SAP functions to ensure proper advanced shipping notice (ASN), invoicing, payment terms, PRO numbers or tracking.
  • Manage relationships with truck vendors to ensure timely loading / unloading of freight.
  • Manage Trad esphere and McSource systems as necessary.

Technical Functional Skills:

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Working knowledg e of Microsoft Office computer applications

Education:

HIGH SCHOOL-GRAD or GED EQUIVALENT (required)
Asociates in Business Admin, technical (preferred)
