Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Work Control Planner 2 in Los Alamos, NM.

Located in beautiful northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security.

This position will support the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Navarro employee in a staff augmentation position.

Duration anticipated to September 30, 2026 with possibility for direct hire after.

4x10 schedule

Position Description:

This section highlights the main areas of expertise and job functions expected for effective performance, distinct from formal job requirements.

• Ability to understand work control, maintenance and/or materials management and understanding of work control and related policies, practices, and procedures.
• Working knowledge in identifying required labor, material, and equipment are needed to be successful in completing given work activities.
• Ability to understand in order to identify work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures
• Knowledge and or experience in identifying environmental issues; and work hazards and controls such as the isolation, containment or de-energizing of various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.
• Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
• Ability to conduct functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, tracking, retrieval and review of work packages.
• Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
• Intermediate computer skills (such as typing, spreadsheets, reports and use of Microsoft Word and Excel).

Requirements

  • Position typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
  • Ability to fully understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning.
  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.
  • Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's infrastructure and site planning policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiar with and or having the understanding of facility support equipment, such as HVAC systems, Compressors, Boilers, and Electrical Distribution systems.
  • Knowledgeable in tracking work activities from conception through completion, preferably in construction management and or facility management industries.
  • Certified facility Manager or PPA certification (Policy Procedure Writer)

Physical requirements include outdoor walk-throughs and climbing fixed ladders.

*Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required. *Must have the ability to obtain a Q Level DOE Clearance
