Product Manager (Finance)



Position Description:

The Factory Automation Product Manager is capable of planning, organizing, and controlling the GEMCO and CATRAC product lines from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.

The position leads a sales and support team consisting of 2 highly experienced sales & application engineers.

This position generates new business and ensures growth of existing accounts for Factory Automation products by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Participates in annual budget activities and maintains responsibility for meeting Factory Automation financial targets. Collaborates with Sales and Marketing to achieve top-line sales goal, Engineering to achieve new product sales goal, and Purchasing and Manufacturing to achieve margin goal.
  • Responsible for new product development. Participates in Voice of customer initiatives, overall product strategy, R&D requirements, development, profit estimation, 5-year sales forecast, and manufacturing coordination for new products or features.
  • Provides financial and technical justification for product selection and definition. Defines objectives and prepare schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market.
  • Generates new business through eCommerce, direct sales of customized product, OEM accounts, and strategic alliances.
  • Fosters sales growth through technical product training and tandem sales calls with Regional Sales Managers, Application Specialists, and Distributors. Recommends possible corrective plans when product sales are below target.
  • Evaluates vertical market coverage and makes recommendations for sales channel expansion.
  • Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends within multiple industries. Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors. Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for product.
  • Collaborates with Sales and Marketing to establish and deploy marketing budget, including trade shows, webinars, ad words, media campaigns, demos, and advertising.
  • Conduct and prepare all necessary material for product and application training programs. Responsible for the creation of all bulletins, manuals, and sales collateral specific to each product.
  • Responsible for all product advertising copy and authorship of featured article materials for trade publications. Solicits customer success stories and publishes technical papers and application notes.
  • Responds to customer needs and market opportunities through interdepartmental cooperation. Works collaboratively with Engineering and Quality to provide technical advice and product specifications to Sales, Customer Service, Application Specialists, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.
  • Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line.
  • Travel up to 35% of the month both domestically and internationally.

Position Requirements:

  • Business or technical Bachelor's degree preferred, alternatively experience in a highly related field to be considered
  • 5+ years' technical sales and customer service experience required; experience with a manufacturer or distributor preferred.
  • Extrovert who is energized by customer-facing interactions, especially webinars, trade shows, and in-person presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, bills of material, costing data, margin analysis.
  • Able to pull a wide variety of data into a well-constructed and supportable analysis. Able to define basic problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Flexible, able to adapt to changing design requirements and easily transition between projects to meet priority.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills for managing multiple, simultaneous objectives.
  • Previous experience with ERP software (Oracle preferred); CRM software (Salesforce preferred).
  • Self-motivated, able to work with little supervision.
  • People management experience preferred, but not required

Compensation

Employee Type: Salaried

Salary Minimum: $90,000

Salary Maximum: $130,000

Incentive: Yes
