This position is responsible for installation, management, maintenance, capacity planning design and engineering for the organization's LAN/WAN data network infrastructure.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:    
Essential:

  •  Develops network design and plans for organizational networks and develops and implements a five year network plan that takes into account growth, high availability and disaster recovery.
  •  Regularly monitors the performance, availability and latency of network systems.
  •  Plans, coordinates and conducts functional and feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses to determine the adaptability of established and proposed information system network applications.
  •  Develops and supports standards for the use of wide-area network (WAN) services and recommends policies for WAN desktop hardware and software.
  •  Evaluates new technologies, methodologies and Information Technology trends to ensure that network infrastructure meets current and future needs.
  •  Maintains Information Technology inventory records of wide-area and local-area network hardware and software as well as coordination of repairs and quality control tests.

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or closely related field preferred
  •  CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) highly desired
  •  A minimum of five years of experience in the analysis, installation, administration and troubleshooting of all aspects of a data network
  •  A minimum of five years of experience working with TCP/IP, VPN, IPsec, tunneling, T1, T3, DSL, ISDN, fiber optics, gigabit Ethernet, VLANs, 802.11x(WiFi), OSPF, BGP, Cisco IOS, VRRP, QOS, ACLs, VoIP, spanning tree, SNMP, RADIUS, IPS/IDS
  •  Proficiency in wired network as well as wireless (WiFi) network security and encryption standards
  •  Proficiency in testing procedures/safe practices re data loss and high data integrity
  •  Proficiency in network monitoring and performance management systems
  •  Proficiency in CAT 5/CAT3 cabling and multi/single node fiber optics
  •  Proficiency in network design and planning technologies
  •  Proficiency with specialized test equipment
  •  Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  •  Ability to use sound judgment
  •  Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details
  •  Ability to support critical systems after hours, nights and weekends as needed

  •  An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and sit for an extended length of time. Ability to occasionally walk on uneven terrain to include railroad ballast and icy ground. Ability to climb ladders and enter/exit vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to work in various environments, which can include, but is not limited to, working with dust, dirt, gravel, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, for an extended length of time as well as in various outdoor, sometimes extreme, weather conditions as required.
  • Ability to stay alert and aware of surrounding operating environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs., push/pull up to 100 lbs., and work with arms held in an overhead position.

Pay Range:

$92,003.00 - $129,954.50 Annual
