Director, Customer Advocacy (Finance)

Director, Customer Advocacy
The Basics:

Tanium is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader in marketing and customer programs who is passionate about driving impact for Tanium through the lens of our customers. The Director of Customer Advocacy will champion customer evidence and supporting programs, as a core element of our sales and marketing strategy. This role is equal parts strategy, orchestration, and execution - you'll craft the roadmap, define systems and signals, and drive integrated success across Tanium's most important go-to-market initiatives.

You'll work closely with teams across marketing, customer success, value engineering, and sales to operationalize a consistent, outcome-based narrative for our customers. This includes owning peer reviews, customer storytelling, references, and platform-aligned success stories that power campaigns, conversations, and credibility.

What You'll Do:

Build the Strategy

  • Define and lead Tanium's global customer advocacy and evidence roadmap, aligning to business objectives and growth priorities
  • Drive a shift from feature-led to outcome-led storytelling - showing not what Tanium does, but what it enables
  • Operationalize a cross-functional engine for surfacing, validating, and activating customer proof across internal and external channels

Activate Customer Voice
  • Own peer review program strategy and execution (eG2Crowd, Gartner Peer Insights)
  • Launch and scale a formal reference program to meet the demands of sales, product, Comms, and AR
  • Oversee development of compelling customer narratives - case studies, testimonials, videos, win wires - mapped to the buyer journey and key product pillars
  • Champion innovative ways to showcase customer success, including digital experiences, social proof, and analyst-aligned packaging

Integrate and Scale
  • Partner with Brand, Product Marketing, Value Engineering, and GTM Ops to embed advocacy into major launches, campaigns, and events
  • Select and lead implementation of advocacy platforms and tooling
  • Define and report on success metrics - tying advocacy directly to pipeline acceleration, competitive differentiation, and brand trust

Lead and Influence
  • Manage internal team members and agency partners to deliver with scale and precision
  • Serve as the connective tissue between Customer Success, Product, Sales, and Marketing - turning customer impact into market momentum
  • Support communications efforts by providing timely, high-value customer proof points that reinforce Tanium's strategic narrative.

We're looking for someone with:

  • 10+ years in customer marketing, advocacy, or strategic communications roles at enterprise tech companies. Track record of launching and scaling global advocacy programs with measurable business impact
  • Strong strategic instincts with the ability to build from the ground up and guide cross-functional execution, manage relationships with executive stakeholders, and deliver consistent customer engagement.
  • Experience gathering customer feedback, guiding teams to maintain a strong customer focus, and aligning with overall marketing, branding, and sales objectives. Proven ability to take a creative approach to developing innovative and engaging customer experiences.
  • Data driven focus, with experience ROI and driving continuous improvement within the advocacy team and for customer reference and evidence programs.
  • Skilled communicator with experience working closely with executives and externally facing teams
  • Executive presence, editorial instinct, and a relentless focus on impact over activity
  • Deep understanding of peer review programs and customer storytelling, including B2B platforms and enterprise buyer behavior. Expertise in peer review platforms and 3rd party review strategy with an understanding how to drive engagement at scale.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
