Staff Accountant (Finance)



Position: Staff Accountant
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: Compensation is based on experience and assumed responsibilities. $22.00 to $30.00 per hour
Reports to: Sr. Staff Accountant and Controller

Job Description

Summary/objective:
This position will play a key role in managing the finances, including creating financial transactions and generating relevant reports by being detailed-oriented, thorough, and organized. Collaborate and communicate with vendors and customers to ensure accuracy of financial transactions.
Essential functions:

Perform general accounting and bookkeeping duties, including posting information to Accounting system and regularly reconcile accounts.
Manage and pay accounts payable as they come due for payment, including necessary bills as well as supplier and vendor invoices.
Obtain necessary tax forms from new vendors.
Perform reconciliations of credit cards on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy.
Make deposits and record all cash receipts.
Manage accounts receivable, distribute customer invoices, and ensure that receivables are collected in a timely manner.
Process and generate 1099s.
Process and prepare sales tax reports and other various reports, i.e.: timber tax reports.
Prepare and maintain job costing as required per company entity.
Maintain accurate loan balances.
Maintain internal control systems.
Comply with relevant reporting requirements.
Maintain complete filing system to support financial records that allow for supervisors and management to locate records easily.
Maintain accurate daily account balance.
Maintain an organized and streamlined accounting system.
Ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize between assignments.
General knowledge of GAAP with the ability to review, record, reclassify, and summarize financial reports.
Be able to assist in a month end or year-end closing of financials.
File all documents upon processing.
Understands the necessity to maintain the strictest level of client confidentiality.
Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to management when required.
Create, and/or edit Standard Operating Procedures for job tasks.
Update SOP's when needed or directed by Controller.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve department and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skills.
Provide excellent customer service to clients, vendors, and suppliers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Work environment/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires:

Sitting for prolonged periods of time using a computer keyboard, mouse, and screen.
Standing and walking may require twisting, reaching, bending, crouching and kneeling.
Grasping, pushing, pulling, dragging, lifting boxes of files, and other office items weighing 30 pounds or less.
Mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.

Travel Required

None.

Required education and experience:

3 to 5 years' experience (Preferred, new college graduate with at least an A.A. in Accounting will be considered based on educational training).
10 Key by touch.
Must be able to type 45 wpm.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred education and experience:

College graduate with at least an A.A. in Accounting, or Certificate in Bookkeeping.

Additional eligibility requirements:

Must have a Valid Driver's License.
Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen.
