A Brief Overview

The Safety Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving safety processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, enhance workplace safety, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement engineering controls that support the organization's safety objectives.

What you will do

  • Design and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs associated with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees and management to ensure awareness of safety standards and procedures. Provide technical expertise and guidance on safety topics.
  • Perform regular audits and inspections of processes, equipment, and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards. Document findings, prepare reports, and work with teams to resolve safety issues.
  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA's) for all covered processes and oversee Management of Change (MoC) program.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement controls to mitigate safety risks. Evaluate new equipment and processes to ensure safety compliance before implementation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and standards related to workplace safety.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support broader organizational goals.
  • Oversee property insurance assessments and CAPEX needs.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Some duties may vary slightly by location.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Required)


Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years in a Process Safety Management (PSM) covered facility. (Required)
  • 1-3 years in a safety engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments and implementing safety improvements (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years in aerosol industry covered by PSM and RMP requirements (Required)
  • 1-3 years in industry covered by PSM and RMP requirements due to flammability. (Required)


Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and hazard analyses. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs. (High proficiency)
  • Proficient in identifying root causes of safety issues and implementing practical solutions. (Medium proficiency)
  • Skilled in managing multiple safety projects and initiatives simultaneously. (Medium proficiency)
  • Familiarity with safety management software and tools. (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to drive safety initiatives. (Medium proficiency)
