Supervisor Operations; 2nd Shift (2 pm to 12 pm) (Manufacturing)



Compensation:  $80,000 to $95,000.  This position will receive a shift differential of $12,000 and eligible for a shift stipend.  

Essential Functions

Supervisors provide first-line leadership for a team of hourly non-exempt employees on an assigned shift in a Foundry manufacturing environment.  Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Schedule Attainment are key accountabilities and metrics in the performance of this job. 

  • Lead, coach, and mentor hourly production team members to achieve goals while demonstrating exemplary behavior.
  • Ensure that hourly team members are aware of and adhere to plant safety rules; work with the department team to develop a strong safety culture.
  • Plan and direct the department's production activities, while considering operation needs and cost factors.
  • Coordinate the department's production activities with cross-functional teams, including maintenance and quality, to achieve production targets and scrap goals.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift production meeting with team.
  • Adhere to department production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Oversee assigned 5S projects including project implementation and auditing of the department.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of process issues through corrective actions.
  • Assign tasks, train team members, and plan workforce deployment based upon production demands.
  • Troubleshoot processes and/or procedures to find the root cause on an issue and offer a resolution to operations leadership.

  • Proficient knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in interviewing, coaching, counseling, motivating, and training team members.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, cost management, and manufacturing best practices in a Foundry setting.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a business or engineering discipline or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Prior foundry production, fabricated metal products or a metals machining environment is desired.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in hot, loud, and, occasionally, a confined environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders at varying heights.

Travel Requirements

Little to no travel is anticipated with this position.
