This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

Job Family Definition:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and optimizes network and solutions for hybrid and private cloud environments. Deve lops architectures for integrated solutions, including private cloud systems, network fabrics, and automation tools. Ensures compatibility across hardware and software components, influences design decisions, and drives innovation to meet current and future customer needs.

Management Level Definition:

Contributes technical leadership to significant projects or programs with visible impact across products and solutions. Applies in-depth knowledge to solve complex problems, improve efficiency, and enable scalable and secure customer deployments. Acts as a recognized authority in both network and cloud technologies, driving innovation and mentoring peers across the organization.

Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Architecture:

  • Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for network and cloud systems design across multiple platforms.
  • Design tailored network architectures that integrate private cloud solutions with customer network fabrics, including Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VxLAN, EVPN).
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to align customer needs with product capabilities and create scalable, standardized solutions.
  • Evaluate and select technologies, tools, and processes to ensure robust and secure solutions.

Customer Engagement:
  • Engage directly with customers, HPE Field teams, and partners to understand integration requirements, explain network architectures, and provide technical consultation.
  • Facilitate discussions on network security architecture to address regulatory compliance and customer-specific security requirements.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, product management, and support, to ensure alignment of customer needs with product development efforts.
  • Document solution architectures, automation workflows, and customer requirements for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less-experienced staff members, fostering innovation and excellence in solution and network engineering.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 networking concepts, protocols, and configurations (e.g., VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VRF, VxLAN, EVPN).
  • Deep knowledge of private cloud environments, virtualization technologies, and software-defined networking (e.g., VMware NSX, Open Switch, Juniper Contrail, etc.).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as GoLang, Python, and Java for automation development.
  • Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting tools and HPE network devices; familiarity with third-party network devices is a plus.
  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Apache Airflow).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking and hybrid environments, including datacenter interconnection strategies and spine-leaf architectures.

Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering innovative solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills to guide peers and junior staff members.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Typically, 12+ years of professional experience, including roles in solution engineering, networking, or cloud architecture; candidates without a Master's degree require three additional years of relevant experience (15+ years total).
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, such as solutions architect, pre-sales engineer, or technical consultant, is highly desirable.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S. -based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $122,000.00 - $231,000.00
