We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in water and wastewater facilities to join our expanding national Water Infrastructure Design Services group. In this role, you'll tackle some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the Northeast, while also having opportunities to contribute to initiatives across the country and around the globe.

As the technical authority, you'll guide electrical designs from initial concept and budgeting through detailed design, construction, and commissioning-ensuring infrastructure that delivers safe, reliable water to millions. Your expertise will span everything from substations and power distribution systems to advanced instrumentation, directly influencing the sustainability and resilience of the communities we serve.

More than just a design position, this is your opportunity to lead transformative projects, collaborate with high-profile clients such as the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP), and help define the future of electrical engineering in the water sector. Whether your goal is to advance as a Principal Engineer or step into a Northeast or National Electrical Group Lead role, Arcadis will provide the platform, resources, and mentorship to help you achieve it.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Lead Major Projects: Manage the design of low- and medium-voltage electrical power systems for large-scale water/wastewater facilities, including projects with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection.
  • Be the Client's Go-To Expert: Serve as the primary electrical contact for municipal and industrial clients, from proposal development to project delivery.
  • Engineer Complex Systems: Design, analyze, and layout substations, power distribution, standby power, lighting, data communications, relay logic, fire alarm, and instrumentation/control systems.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work with architects, civil and mechanical engineers, HVAC, plumbing, I&C/SCADA, and structural teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Oversee Construction: Review submittals, respond to RFIs, conduct field inspections, ensure quality control, and verify compliance with safety and design standards.
  • Apply Advanced Tools: Use ETAP, SKM Power Tools, and similar software for system analysis, short-circuit studies, arc flash analysis, and more.

Key Skills:

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with AutoCAD MEP (2D and 3D) and/or Revit, along with demonstrated proficiency in SKM Power Tools for short circuit calculations, overcurrent coordination, arc flash analysis, and photometric studies using software such as Visual 3D or Dialux. Experience working with SEL, GE Multilin, or similar relays is essential, as is a solid understanding of National Electrical Code requirements. A commitment to mentoring and developing junior engineering staff is highly valued, reflecting our team's culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 10 years of consulting experience in electrical design for water/wastewater and industrial facilities
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with blue beam and BIM360
  • Medium voltage design experience
