Job Description
The RAQA Data Scientist will be an integral member of the Quality Data Analytics (QDA) team, leveraging technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of quality and regulatory business processes to transform data into valuable insights. This individual will collaborate closely with various business teams to gather, clarify, and translate business data requirements into effective data solutions, reports, and advanced analytics. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of automated quality data analytics to enhance efficiency in metrics reporting and data visualization, utilizing advanced programming languages such as Python and R. Additionally, strong expertise and practical experience in AI (including LLMs, generative AI, etc.) and ML (such as deep learning, NLP, classification/forecasting, etc.) are crucial for delivering exceptional outcomes that align with stakeholders' needs in next-generation analytics.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist various internal stakeholders with ad-hoc statistical consultations and analyses.
  • Develop solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of monitoring product performance and detecting anomalies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with RAQA teams to create innovative applications that enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Design deep-dive analysis strategies and conduct ad-hoc investigations to identify issues, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop suitable analytical models, including machine learning and/or artificial intelligence (AI) as appropriate, to conduct analyses, interpret results, and assess potential risks, time impacts, costs, and value.
  • Partner with the RAQA Data Science team to optimize business processes by integrating new techniques, algorithms, and technologies into existing workflows.
  • Serve as a key contributor to driving innovation within Quality Analytics while maintaining a high degree of technical accuracy, formal documentation, and compliance.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong proficiency in programming with R and/or Python
  • Experience with custom analytic application development using frameworks such as R Shiny, Streamlit, Bokeh, or Dash.
  • Solid understanding of traditional machine learning techniques, including both supervised and unsupervised learning models (i.e. Random Forest, Logistic Regression, Clustering, XGBoost etc)
  • Proficiency in conducting traditional statistical analyses, such as power analysis and tests like ANOVA, ANCOVA, Linear Regression, and Mann-Whitney U tests.
  • Strong data visualization skills to effectively communicate insights and findings.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into statistical frameworks and deliver user-driven analytical solutions.
  • Experience in managing major project application builds or code development cycles using GitHub or comparable version control solutions.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) is a plus

In addition to the above technical skill requirements, we are also looking for an enthusiastic candidate with the following built-in attributes.
  • Passion for problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with lead data scientists to provide actionable insights.
  • Experience in the medical devices industry is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders and understand business processes to develop KPIs for quality management and regulatory compliance systems.

Required Education and Training
  • Master or PhD degree in Statistics/Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Science, Computer Science or other related fields with minimal of 2 years working experience in highly regulated health or biotech industry; Or high-profile candidate with bachelor degree and at least 5+ years relevant working experience

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Working experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, regulatory, or other related industries highly preferred.
  • Experience with advanced programming (Python and/or R) for tool development and reporting is highly desirable.
  • Familiar with reporting practices across multiple regulatory agencies.
  • Familiar with Intuitive products is preferred.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $125,800 USD - $170,200 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $106,900 USD - $144,700 USD
