The preferred working location for this role is the Medtronic facility located in Minneapolis, Minnesota; however, the individual may also work from another US-based Medtronic facility. Additional work location may include:

• Atlanta, Georgia

The Senior Director, IT Services, will be responsible for the direction and execution of Medtronic's vendor management strategy for its third party services environment, inclusive of managed services, business process outsourcing, and SOW-based, project-specific demand. Working directly with Global IT leadership, internal customers, and large multinational IT services firms, this position will drive improved governance and partnership across its $300M+ strategic supplier portfolio. Reporting to the VP, Vendor Management Office, success in this role will consist of effectively managing a global team to deliver gains in quality, cost, accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation. This is a high-visibility leadership role, which is expected to have significant impact as Global IT's workforce strategy has been designed to leverage its service delivery partners for both recurring "run" functions and variable-demand "plan" and "build" requirements.

Travel:

  • 10-15%, including travel to India to interact with both Medtronic employees and IT services suppliers

A Day in the Life

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and improves the vendor management strategy for Global IT's services suppliers. Takes a long-term view that considers cost, quality, supplier mix, capability areas, competitive leverage, and preferred providers
  • Works collaboratively with Global IT leadership, internal customers, and shared service teams (Finance, Legal, Sourcing, etc.) to align strategy with execution
  • Leads a global team of IT vendor managers and directors whose goal is providing programmatic governance of its Top 20 suppliers and strategic partnership with its Top 5. Expected outcomes are measurable performance improvement through SLAs and KPIs, and value-added partnership elements such as executive sponsorship, roadmaps, industry perspective, AI, automation, and innovation
  • Creates and maintains the relationship ladders with our Top 20 IT services suppliers, including executive sponsors, product and delivery leads, sales and service account teams. Able to use these relationships to map out priorities, influence outcomes, and ensure Medtronic's needs are met by our suppliers
  • Communicates past, present, and future IT services narratives effectively. Takes a data-driven, objective view of performance and uses internal and external feedback to create continuous improvement in service delivery
  • Delivers measurable quality and performance improvements year-over-year, as seen in both monthly SLA/KPI metrics and customer satisfaction scores
  • Delivers measurable financial value year-over-year, coming from cost savings, cost avoidance, and supplier-driven AI, automation, process and resource efficiency

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical or business-related field
  • 15+ years working in some combination of IT operations, procurement, or vendor management, where influencing supplier behavior was a core part of the position
  • 10+ years working with IT services suppliers, with particular emphasis on large, multinational firms such as Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, HCL, Accenture, IBM, etc.
  • 10+ years creating and driving vendor strategy, aligning customer requirements with third-party services, delivering successful outcomes via internal/external teams
  • Experience working with global teams in a follow-the-sun model; effective leading teams that are based in APAC, EMEA, and the Americas

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, specifically as it relates to working with internal and external leadership teams to maintain effective relationships and long-term partnerships
  • Ability to influence - both internally and externally - using an objective, data-driven approach to reach the right solution
  • Strong presentation skills - in support of both monthly recurring reporting and ad hoc strategy and analysis that must be communicated to internal customers
  • Intellectually curious and entrepreneurial - always looking for new approaches to problems, and new opportunities for improvement
  • Optimistic and solution focused - brings a positive outlook to the team, with a belief that we can always find a better, faster, cheaper way to deliver vs. the status quo
  • Experience with India-based employees and IT services firms

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$206,400.00 - $309,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
