Job Summary

The Prep/Breakdown position will be responsible for verifying and prepping components used on printed circuit boards in the production of ADTRAN's products and breaking down Surface Mount Technology (SMT) feeder tables and routing unused components to the Raw Materials Distribution Center.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Remove component reels from feeder tables and restage the feeder table in SMT set-up area.
  • Record movement of assembly/sub-assembly and open process sheets in AEGIS Production Manager
  • Perform a cycle count on each component reel, enter new component count number in BaaN, print new component count label in BaaN, and label each reel.
  • Ensure moisture sensitive components are bagged, labeled, and vacuum sealed.
  • Route materials and components back to the Raw Materials Distribution Center.
  • Prepare and complete kits that are routed to the hand load and preload areas of production.
  • Record movement of assembly, check quality alert notifications and waivers, and print process sheets in AEGIS Production Manager and determine which kits are to be prepped based on daily work orders and job priorities.
  • Follow preparation process instructions in Fusion including which parts to pull, board verification, and component alterations.
  • Check and inspect products to ensure Q50 and IPC-A-610 quality standards are met.
  • Work on "semi-routine" assignments and recognize/indicate where any deviation from accepted practices is required.
  • Prompt and regular attendance is required in order to ensure quality workflow.
  • Other duties as requested in order to ensure 100% quality, accuracy, and product verification.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
    • Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements
  • 0 - 5 years prior experience required.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack on daily basis required.
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • No travel is expected in this position.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Prior manufacturing environment experience is preferred.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience preferred
  • Experience in safely operating material handling equipment including: Forklift, Pallet Jack, Reach Truck, Order Picker, Hand Truck, Dolly preferred.

Essential Physical and Mental Qualifications
  • The employee must walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 40 pounds without assistance on a repetitive basis and lift materials greater than 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity with hands and fingers is necessary to make quick, precisely coordinated movements to grasp, manipulate, and assemble very small objects on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able to frequently extend or reach with hands and arms while performing routine job functions including scanners, hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
  • The job will require occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Eye protection, respirators, and safety clothing will be required and supplied by the company in instances where there is exposure to safety hazards.
  • Employees may be exposed to solder fumes.
  • The job will require the employee to possess the ability to see and interpret instructions, warnings, safety hazards, colors, and procedures, the ability to hear alarms and pages, to listen for safety hazards, to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences in English, and the ability to communicate with peers through spoken words in English to complete job requirements.
