SUMMARY OF POSITION:  

As a key contributor to the Environment & Sustainability (E&S) team, this role assumes a leadership position in driving Kimberly-Clark's (K-C) commitment to Better Care for a Better World. Serving as the Site Environmental Coordinator, the role provide leadership specifically for the environmental aspects of OH&S and E&S programs and systems, particularly at the company's non-manufacturing locations. The position ensures that the facility is strategically aligned and operating in conformance with K-C OH&S and E&S Standards and in compliance with local legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Compliance Management: Monitor and manage the implications of relevant legal requirements applicable to site activities and operations.
  • Risk Management: Effectively handle identified environmental risks.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate competence in relevant environmental and sustainability topics, especially about topics addressed by K-C OH&S and E&S Perf. Stds. and associated operation-specific risks.
  • Incident Support: Leverage experience to support environmental incident investigations and associated causal analyses.
  • Training Delivery: Deliver basic environmental and sustainability training common in less complex operations.
  • Program Assessments: Execute routine checks and self-assessments of the site's environmental and sustainability program maturity and performance for operations of low complexity.
  • Leadership Skills: Exhibit relevant leadership skills related to taking accountability, positive role modeling, and demonstrating commitment as per the Leadership Curriculum.
  • Technological Acumen: Utilize data, digital systems/platforms, and confidently address technological advancements (e.g., automation) relevant to perform tasks/duties of the role.
  • Project Management and Change Support: Possess project management and management of change support capabilities.
  • Lean Mindset: Approach tasks with a lean mindset, emphasizing continuous improvement, value to the customer, and a "go to where the work happens" attitude.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrate strong collaboration skills, fostering teamwork and effective communication within the organization.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Compliance Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with K-C and regulatory controls and requirements related to environmental matters at the site.

OH&S and E&S Management System:

  • Facilitate the implementation of environmental and sustainability components within the site's OH&S and E&S Management System.

Risk Management:

  • Stay informed about environmental aspects, hazards, requirements, etc., to ensure effective management within acceptable levels of risk or impact.

Program Maturity:

  • Helps improve environmental and sustainability program maturity.

Event Investigations:

  • Support environmental event investigations to ensure thorough root cause evaluations and verify the effective implementation of corrective/preventative actions.

Training and Orientation:

  • Ensure all employees undergo appropriate environmental and sustainability orientation and training programs.

Contractor Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence of contractors to relevant K-C standards and OH&S and E&S requirements.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Capable of using digital systems/platforms to capture environmental and sustainability data needed to provide insights and recommend improvement actions as needed.  Applies formal procedures and controls to ensure data integrity.

Key Decisions/Decision Rights

Decision rights for this role relate primarily to escalation (to Regional/BU and Global OH&S and E&S leadership) of any potential conditions that cannot be appropriately resolved locally and are associated with potential:

  • Non-conformance/non-compliance with K-C and regulatory controls and requirements related to OH&S and E&S.
  • EHS risks or impacts that may not be managed to acceptable levels
  • Ineffective corrective/preventative actions specified to address OH&S and E&S events/subsequent investigations.
  • Ineffective controls to provide quality and complete OH&S and E&S data for compliance/conformance purposes.

The environmental leader is also required to adhere to EHS events management requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental management, sustainability or a related field.
  • 5 plus years of experience in environmental management, involving legal compliance, hazards/risks, adherence to company standards and deployment of environmental management systems.
  • Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities if any.
  • Strong communications, interpersonal skills with ability to effectively engage at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to influence behaviors/outcomes w/o direct authority.

Salary Range: 127,600 – 157,600 USD

At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
