Instructor I: OB/GYN Inpatient NP/PA (Finance)



The Physician Assistant (PA/NP) in the Gynecology Division will play a crucial role in managing patient care in the inpatient setting. This position is designed to enhance patient care efficiency and improve overall safety and quality of service. The PA/NP will work closely with attending physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely patient evaluations, discharge planning, and consultation management. Responsibilities also include surgical assistance and involvement in pre-operative and post-operative care.MINIMUM:

This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor. Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in .

PREFERRED:

New graduates will be considered for employment after certification and licensure is completed.

Candidates with experience are preferred, especially experience in full scope practice and tertiary level of care.

  • Clinical Care

-Provide timely evaluation and management of inpatient and emergency room consults.
-Assist with preparing patients for surgery (i.e. history and physical, pre-op orders) and postoperative care, ensuring that pre-operative and post-operative orders are completed accurately and promptly.
-Assist with inpatient rounding to maintain continuity of care, enhancing patient safety through thorough and consistent evaluations.
-Coordinate post-operative care and follow-up instructions to facilitate patient discharge.
-Provide support to the residency program while maintaining educational opportunities for residents.
-Serve as a first assist in surgeries when necessary.
-Participate in outpatient surgeries at designated locations, including Brandon Healthplex.
  • Education & Research:

-Participate in the teaching of medical and PA students, as well as medical residents and other health professionals.
-Engage in research and scholarly activities.
-Participate in clinical and educational objectives required for licensure, certification, and credentialing.
  • Other Duties:

-Perform other duties as assigned by Division Chief, Vice Chair or Chair
-Participation in Departmental Conferences, educational activities, and Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs
-Represent and support the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Department.
-Represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees. Apply
