Description:

Responsible for the operations of a complex center or multiple departments at the university. Oversees staff and budgets, and projects.

1. Administers a complex center or multiple departments.
2. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
3. Hires and directs the activities of staff.
4. Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
5. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
6. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
7. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
8. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents. 9. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Description:
This position works in the Rockwell Career Center at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. The Director of Experiential Learning provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of experiential education initiatives within the Bauer College of Business. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and assessing programs that connect students with real-world business experiences, including internships for credit, case competitions, employer-sponsored class projects, and corporate coaching. The Director collaborates closely with faculty, employers, alumni, and students to ensure that experiential learning opportunities enhance academic outcomes, career readiness, and employer engagement.

Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to:
Program Development & Management
• Oversee the design, delivery, and assessment of credit-bearing internships, case competitions, in-class projects, and corporate coaching programs.
• Create new experiential learning opportunities such as consulting projects, innovation labs, global experiences, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
• Ensure programs align with academic requirements, employer needs, and career readiness goals.
Employer & Alumni Engagement
• Cultivate and expand partnerships with employers and alumni to secure project sponsorships, competition opportunities, and mentorship relationships.
• Serve as a liaison between corporate partners, faculty, and students to ensure mutual value and sustainable engagement.
Faculty Collaboration & Curriculum Integration
• Partner with faculty to embed experiential components into coursework and co-curricular programming.
• Provide resources, training, and support to faculty integrating real-world projects into the classroom.
Student Preparation & Professional Development
• Lead workshops, coaching sessions, and training to prepare students for experiential opportunities.
• Support reflection and post-experience integration to help students articulate skills and outcomes.
Assessment & Continuous Improvement
• Collect and analyze data on student learning, employer satisfaction, and program effectiveness.
• Prepare reports and recommendations to enhance program quality and impact.
Leadership & Administration
• Supervise staff, graduate assistants, or peer leaders supporting experiential initiatives.
• Manage program budgets, employer agreements, and compliance with academic and institutional policies.
• Represent the Career Center at campus events, industry conferences, and professional associations.

Preferences:
• Experience working within Bauer College; specifically, with experience working with the career center, faculty, and administrative programs.
• Knowledge of assessment methods and learning outcome measurement, including NACE competencies.
• Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and foster inclusive experiential learning opportunities.
• Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Canvas, Edusourced, and Symplicity.
• Master's degree in business, higher education, or related professional field; JD or combination of experience and education.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in career services, experiential education, employer relations, or related field.
• Demonstrated success in building partnerships and managing complex programs.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
