Quality Process Engineer (Engineering)

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Quality Process Engineer to drive ISO-compliant quality management systems with a focus on environmental, health, operations, safety, and quality. . This position is located in the heart of Mark Twain National Forest at our Resource Recycling Division in Boss, Missouri.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the quality system to ensure products are manufactured within specification.
  • Develop standard work practices from process limits and corrective actions, and ensure operators and supervisors are engaged and trained in running plant processes as they relate to quality.
  • Effectively address and resolve customer complaints and issues through corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement projects and contribute to developing necessary operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Manage site ISO program to current standards and ensure certification standards and documentation are maintained.
  • Manage the site document control process.
  • Conduct monthly quality meetings.
  • Perform regular quality audits.
  • Analyze statistical data and material laboratory test results to evaluate process operation and develop process improvements that would improve the quality and quantity of the company's product.
  • Work closely with plant operators, coordinators, and contractors to develop a scope of work for projects and assist with commissioning and training.
  • Apply safety and good environmental practices on the floor. Includes maintaining the cleanliness of work areas.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: 

  • Minimum 2-year degree in related field.
  • Bachelor's of Science or Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing quality systems.
  • If no degree, minimum 10 years managing relevant quality systems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adaptive, I-Series, PeopleSoft, and Ultimate. 
  • Proficiency of quality management systems and ISO requirements
  • Knowledge of lean principles.
  • Knowledge and practice of general chemistry.

Work Environment, Physical & Lifting Requirements: 

  • Assorted hand and powered tools.
  • Regularly required to work in outdoor weather conditions, wear PPE, including but not limited to a respirator, eye protection, hearing protection, and foot protection. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. Frequently required to work in extreme heat (non-weather); Occasionally required to work in confined spaces, wet, humid conditions (non-weather), vibration, working at heights of 4' or more with fall protection. Occasionally exposed to loud noise.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand,walk for extended periods of time, talk, and hear; Occasionally required to use repetitive motion, push, stoop, kneel, climb, balance and reach with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds.
