Checker Gauges (Manufacturing)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Qualifies gauges, gauging equipment, and changeover parts used on production line.

WORKING PROCEDURE:

Sets up BSA sound gauging unit and automatic gauging equipment, and individual gauges on changeovers using set-up gauges and following procedures.

Make periodic quality checks on a variety of special purpose gauges within an assigned area for proper gauging of product to specifications using projectors and pneumatic gauges.

Trouble shoots gauges, gauging equipment and machine parts for cause of improper performance using indicators and micrometers.

Make minor repairs and adjustments to gauging equipment and gauges.

Disassembles gauges and gauging equipment, locates source of trouble, repairs or replaces broken or worn parts. Fits, aligns, calibrates and adjusts parts and reassembles using voltmeter, ammeter, air gauging equipment and miscellaneous hand tools.

Determines repairs to be made in the Tool Room.

Inspects incoming machine parts for proper dimensions using indicators and micrometers.

Handles and moves materials and equipment in and about department using hand truck or by hand carrying. Performs miscellaneous duties such as dipping gauges in plastic and keeping tools and work area clean and orderly

Education and Experience:

3-5 years work experience in manufacturing environment or related education preferred.

Experience with quality gauging is a plus

Technical or mechanical background.

Proven record of reliable attendance, strong work ethic and team skills.

Demonstrated strong math and mechanical skills.

Must have high school or general equivalency diploma (GED)

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
