Senior Legal Counsel-Litigation (Northfield, IL) (Legal)



Job Summary

Medline is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead strategy and execution for the company's enterprise litigation docket and build a scalable litigation program.

Job Description

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of enterprise litigation matters. Partner with outside counsel to set strategy, edit key filings, prepare witnesses, and drive toward efficient resolution. 
  • Build a scalable litigation program, including playbooks for early case assessment, litigation hold SOPs, and discovery protocols.
  • Manage all aspects of outside counsel litigation engagements, including selection and budgets. 
  • Direct eDiscovery strategy and oversee eDiscovery vendors and tools.
  • Enforce privilege and confidentiality practices consistent with Medline's Information Handling Guide.
  • Counsel the business on litigation risks and possible litigation outcomes. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree.

Certification / Licensure

  • Member of a state bar in good standing.

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least 6 years of complex litigation experience (law firm and/or in-house).

Additional

  • Communicates complex legal advice with clarity and confidence.
  • Substantial experience managing complex litigation, including case strategy, advocacy, and negotiations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, eDiscovery, and the attorney-client privilege.
  • Ability to simplify complexity and drive decisions.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$175,760.00 - $263,640.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
