Pathology Technician Assistant (Finance)

Job Description:

• \tProvides assistance to the pathology and histology teams by performing tasks associated with necropsy prep and procedure support, tissue cabinet organization, tissue and paraffin block bagging and archiving, image downloading and archiving, and laboratory cleaning.
• \tSupports and assists the pathology technicians as they perform necropsy procedures including access to tools and supplies, specimen restraint, etc.
• \tAssists with and performs necropsy preparation tasks for necropsy procedures, including setting up instruments and stocking necropsy-specific supplies, and preparing forms, documents, and labels.
• \tPerforms tissue bagging according to established guidelines.
• \tPerforms downloading, labeling, and archiving of digital and high-resolution x-ray images.
• \tAssists with tasks related to tissue cabinet management and tissue movement from necropsy to archiving or shipping.
• \tPerforms melting, bagging, and archiving of paraffin blocks in Histology according to established guidelines.
• \tPerforms slide printing in Histology per the Operation & Maintenance of Slide Printer procedure.
• \tMaintains a clean, GLP-compliant lab and maintains laboratory equipment according to applicable SOPs.
• \tOther duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:

• High school diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a biology or other animal science-related field, or completion of related college or technical school coursework is preferred.
• Experience in an animal laboratory and knowledge of research animal physiology is preferred.

Pay Range Minimum:
$14.81

Pay Range Target:
$21.00

Pay Frequency:
Hourly
