Job Summary

Cost Analysis & Estimation: Responsible for analyzing project specifications and requirements to prepare precise cost estimates and customer proposals within set timelines. You will be primarily estimating VFD and Controls field services projects, this position will secondarily support engineering services quotes for engineering design and modernization projects. This position will work directly with other estimators, outside sales, and operations to ensure jobs are quoted and estimated properly to customers. To be considered for this position, you must have one of the following: 1) VFD estimating experience or 2) VFD field technician experience with good computer skills or 3) someone in technical sales who sells for an OEM that manufactures drives. Estimating is a key position requiring an enthusiastic self-starter with a strong drive to improve existing processes and systems. Excellent organizational skills, ability to balance immediate/long term priorities and exceptional multitasking skills are a necessity. Key objectives are the achievement of targeted quote numbers while maintaining excellent quality. The position will report directly to the estimation manager. This position is located in our Irving, TX office and is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and complete request for quotations (RFQs) received from Shermco sales personnel
  • Obtain additional information required for quoting from outside sales or customer (rare) (accessibility constraints, one-line drawings, training requirements, photos, etc.)
  • Read and interpret plans, proposals, and other documents to create competitive bids.
  • Participate in quarterly job walks with outside sales to further technical knowledge of electrical apparatus.
  • Maximize job margin % by review of past job performance data where applicable, insure proper costing and scope.
  • Prepare quote worksheets by estimating labor, materials, vendor support, logistics, freight, and associated expenses with each associated project / job.
  • Obtain vendor quotes for material and services (as applicable)
  • Perform daily reviews of Quote Queues to ensure all quotes are submitted on time.
  • Review irregular or large projects with production or operational personnel
  • Collaborate with production departments to confirm hours and materials, incorporating insights from past jobs and historical data available
  • Technical proposal writing, prepare quote letters to send to customers on sales behalf.
  • Update quotes and assist with change order proposals for additional work scopes as needed.
  • Continuous Learning: Remain informed about industry trends and company services by engaging in educational opportunities.
  • Ownership: Take responsibility for achieving departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • To be considered for this position you must one of the following: 1) VFD estimating experience or 2) VFD field technician experience with good computer skills or 3) someone in technical sales who works for an OEM that manufactures/sells drives.
  • Knowledge of using Salesforce
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and highly motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, written and oral presentation skills and solid understanding of profitability and other financial measurements.
  • Advanced computer skills with the following software: Excel, Word, Adobe, Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong time management, planning, organizing and prioritization skills.
  • Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills.
  • A professional demeanor and a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
