Assistant Vice President, DC Investment Strategy - State Street Investment Strategy (Finance)



As a member of the DC Investment Strategy team, you will support a team of Strategists, develop a deep understanding of clients' investment needs, and work to ensure a superior offering and client experience versus other DC investment managers. You will support our sales effort to increase the adoption of our investment strategies, including our platform of Target Date funds and index solutions, with large plan sponsors and institutional investment consultants to fuel the growth of our DC business. You will use your investment, sales and client-facing experience to highlight the value of our offerings, help improve new and existing products, and support our existing $800B+ US DC client base.

To be successful, you will need to be well-versed in the US Defined Contribution market, our investment capabilities, product and service offerings, culture and vision in order to effectively communicate each in a compelling way to internal partners, as well as plan sponsors and consultants. To meet the evolving and increasingly complex requirements of these clients, you will also need to form strong relationships across the broader sales, operations, legal, compliance and other internal teams critical to the overall client lifecycle.

This role reports to the Head of US DC Investment Strategy, and will be located in our Boston office.

As an Assistant Vice President on the DC Investment Strategy team, you will:

  • Support the retention and adoption of State Street Investment Strategy with clients and prospects, in collaboration with the Client Coverage Group, to fuel growth in the US DC business
  • Develop and maintain standard presentations, quarterly deliverables, and RFP responses for the US DC business
  • Coordinate across investment and product teams to ensure a best-in-class DC offering
  • Develop relationships with our business partners , notably across State Street's investment teams, as well as with clients and consultants
  • Develop deep knowledge of DC industry and trends, and contribute to team's ongoing research and thought leadership
  • Contribute to DC innovation, ensuring we are developing today what will be needed tomorrow
  • Become internal DC expert on State Street's DC funds and broad DC plan design and structure
These skills will help you succeed in this role
  • Knowledge of and experience working in US DC market and/or with institutional investors
  • Strong technical ability and investment acumen
  • Understanding of DC investment solutions (e.g., Target Date funds and Retirement Income)
  • Proven ability to form and cultivate positive relationships with clients and internal colleagues
  • Strong drive to learn quickly paired with an "ownership" mentality on projects and clients
Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • CFA or progress towards CFA strongly preferred
  • 2-5 years of global investment management experience required
  • Experience in the US DC market strongly preferred
  • Experience in presenting to institutional clients preferred.
  • FactSet, Morningstar experience preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Additional requirements
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills

Salary Range:
$80,000 - $132,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
