Field Technician III (Project Management)



Archaeological Field Technicians for an Upcoming Phase I Survey in Southern Indiana

Employment Type: Temporary, Hourly
Compensation: 19.25-21.25 hourly rate; $41 per diem

DESCRIPTION
The Indiana office of Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. has openings for field technician positions for an upcoming Phase I survey project in southern Indiana. Fieldwork is anticipated to begin in late August/early September and extend through late November/early December. Hourly rate is $19.25-21.25, commensurate with experience, and per diem is $41.

There are two different weekly field schedule options available: 5-day sessions with 2-day weekends, or 10-day sessions with 4-day weekends. Please include your availability for these options in your cover letter when applying. Single occupancy lodging will be provided during work weeks and over weekends between work weeks.

Requirements
· A bachelor's degree in anthropology and completion of an archaeological field school.
· One year of experience as a field technician is preferred.
· Must be able to work in variable field and weather conditions, be physically fit, and able to navigate efficiently in remote areas.
· Must be able to stoop, bend, lift heavy objects, work while standing, and do general manual labor such as digging, sifting, and hiking from one location to another.
· Must possess problem solving skills to identify problems, develop, evaluate options, and implement solutions, must be resourceful and able to complete tasks in the most efficient manner, must be able to follow directions and work independently as needed.
· Candidates need to have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness and ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Job Duties and Responsibilities
· The Field Technician position works under the direction of Staff Archaeologists and Principal Investigators
· Duties range from pedestrian survey to the excavation, recording, and backfilling of shovel test probes.
