Associate Senior Counsel - Enterprise Investigations- Hybrid (Finance)



We are seeking a seasoned legal Associate Attorney for our Employment Litigation & Investigations team. This role will oversee complex employment-related litigation and internal investigations, provide strategic legal counsel to HR and business leaders, and ensure compliance with applicable labor and employment laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead investigations from intake through resolution, including initial formulation of investigation strategy, interviews, document review, and stakeholder debriefs
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to non-attorney investigators on broader team, offering guidance on legal standards, documentation, and case handling
  • Ensure that compliance and ethics inquiries, and reports of alleged employee misconduct are promptly assessed, responded to, timely and thoroughly investigated, and resolved;
  • Partner with The Cigna Group's team of e-discovery and forensic investigators to identify, preserve, and obtain relevant documents and data;
  • Draft clear, timely reports and communicate findings to legal and business leaders
  • Collaborate with HR on employment-related outcomes and disciplinary actions
  • In collaboration with partners in Enterprise Compliance and the relevant business segment, conduct root cause analyses and determine whether any remedial or corrective actions may be appropriate, and whether matters and/or findings or conclusions should be disclosed to federal and/or state agencies;
  • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures, and training and education programs, are adopted as warranted by findings in internal investigations.
  • Evaluate whether findings warrant disclosure to regulatory agencies
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and compliance

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school required;
  • 10+ years experience conducting and managing complex investigations, preferably in a publicly-traded company or other corporate investigations function.
  • Ability to prioritize and act with urgency when appropriate
  • Being part of a team in a manner that enables a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive environment;
  • Effective interviewing skills, and outstanding oral and written communications skills;
  • A comfort level with the laws and regulations that apply to The Cigna Group's businesses;
  • Ability to review and analyze a complex set of facts, documents, or data, and an ability to identify, distill, and present the most relevant material;
  • Ability to evaluate complex issues and make appropriate recommendations to senior leaders;
  • A demonstrated commitment to integrity, compliance, and ethical decision making;
  • Consistently sound judgment and incisive analytical abilities;
  • Ability to present or explain complex issues clearly and succinctly;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively and collegially as part of a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment;
  • Attention to detail and an ability to compile and analyze regulatory and business information, and to develop and provide recommendations for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • *This role is Hybrid and is 3 days in office.
