Plating Tech I (Manufacturing)



Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plates all scheduled cylinders, ensuring they are cleaned, vapor-honed, free of defects, and ready for plating or stripping.
  • Follows ICP Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all plating processes, including the correct use of rectifiers, racks, anodes, and robber rings.
  • Matches racks, anodes, and cylinders appropriately to ensure proper plating or stripping in accordance with ICP guidelines.
  • Accurately records plating data, including time, rate, and amperage, and properly completes all work tickets to ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Reads and interprets meters and temperature gauges, making necessary adjustments to keep plating processes on track.
  • Collaborates with VaporHone Department team members to communicate plating needs and expedite scheduled cylinders.
  • Identifies capacity constraints or production bottlenecks and adjusts workloads as needed to optimize output.
  • Loads and maintains tanks at optimal capacity to ensure smooth and continuous production flow.
  • Adds chromic flake based on lab analysis and monitors tank solution levels, making adjustments as needed to maintain proper levels.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma and 3 – 5 years of work-related experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
  • Demonstrate experience as a maintenance technician
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds
  • Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts and small hand tools
  • Cleaning and maintaining common shop areas
  • Communicate repair issues to affected employees
  • Disposing of trash and machine shavings from plant area
  • Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills

Physical demands:

  • Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or COOPER Machinery Services and customer policies, as required.
  • Exposure to smells and fumes associated with natural gas products.
  • Field activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, working around heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain, areas of loose rock, etc.
  • Field work frequently involves getting dirty, sweaty, dusty, and hot, especially during summer months.
  • Travel to remote areas within a particular region may involve extended periods of driving.
  • Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladder.
  • Will requiring standing for long periods, sitting, squatting, etc.
