ABOUT THE JOB:

The Rebar Lead will ensure the safe, cost effective, and on time manufacturing of ParkUSA products on an hourly basis. They support their crews through hourly management of crew performance in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.  The first level of leadership for plant operations, and is a key team member in ensuring company profitability. This role is considered a leadership role with possibilities of professional growth within the company.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all safety and company policies / procedures and promotes a safe culture
  • Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Maintain all required paperwork
  • Inspects, cleans and performs basic preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Maintain housekeeping within all production, storage and waste areas
  • Follows all work instructions, procedures and job safety analysis (JSA's)
  • Identify and report any unsafe working conditions or equipment
  • Effectively communicate issues to management
  • Performs various general labor work including shoveling, clean up and removal of damaged product
  • Operation of hand tools and equipment
  • Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is necessary in order to perform the essential functions of this position

In the Concrete Production Area:

  • Lead and supervise a team of rebar fabricators, ensuring adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor daily production activities, ensuring that rebar is fabricated according to specifications and within required timelines.
  • Inspect finished products for accuracy, ensuring that all rebar meets quality standards and is correctly produced for the concrete process.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of fabrication equipment, including shears, benders, and cranes
  • Train the crew in proven processes in an efficient use of rebar fabrication, including documenting and ensuring appropriate training is occurring. 
  • Effectively communicate issues to Production Plant manager. 
  • Identify and resolve rebar fabrication issues that would prevent the crew from completing their work safely with good quality, on time, and on budget.
  • Elevating issues to your supervisor that would require leaving the crew for more than 15 minutes to resolve.
  • Step in support the crew and perform their assigned work, when necessary, while ensuring duties are carried on or completed by the designated employees. 
  • Review, assess, and assist in resolving gaps between goals and actual crew performance in the following categories: Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. 
  • Participate in production board meetings daily
  • Work alongside the crew to ensure quality production is completed.
  • Tie steel mesh and rebar re-enforcement with tie guns and manual methods.
  • Cut and bend rebar.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives OTJ to apply various processes to perform a duty by machine and/or hand application
  • May also cross train to learn how to apply and operate machines / equipment
  • Cement/plastics finishing
  • Inspect product before and after processes
  • Cleans and inspects machines
  • Loads and unloads product in machinery in a safe manner
  • Operate forklift and skip loader
  • Ensures pipe is cleaned prior to entering processes
  • Inspects and maintains machinery to ensure production of quality product
  • Reading of drawings
  • Properly identify (mark) pipe with the use of spray paint or stamps
  • Participate in inventory
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in safety regulations and quality control related items.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity and clear speech to perform the essential functions of the job effectively.
  • Regularly attend work and be punctual.
  • Must be skilled in using both hand and power tools.
  • Regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Operate overhead cranes for lowering rebar cages, placing and pouring concrete, and stripping products.
  • Assist other trades within the plant as required.
  • Assist with project work as directed by Department Manager
  • Comply with all ParkUSA policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Work professionally, cooperatively and politely in a team environment and with customers.
  • Learn, organize and prioritize work, delegate tasks as necessary.
  • Handle multiple tasks, work independently, recognize issues and solve problems.
  • Use hands and fingers and have manual dexterity.
  • Stand/bend/stretch/reach/kneel/crawl, etc.
  • Stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Climb ladders and have no fear of heights.
  • Read a tape measure.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 18 yrs old or older
  • Highschool Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • General knowledge of manual labor
  • Read and understand shop tickets, documents, (including piece tickets), drawings and follow instructions (whether presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form).
  • Able to work with and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.

 

Work Hours / Shift

  • Work hours vary or change based on operational needs
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
