Senior Manager - Application Development (Finance)



Job Description:

This position is responsible for managing the Business Application or OnLine Information Technology (IT) Group to implement business application and/or online strategies and solutions in support of business strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors and manages delivery of services against Service Level Agreements;
  • Organizes and documents activities surrounding problem analysis and resolution. Ensure new learning from problem resolution is applied to improve processes;
  • Collaborates with other internal groups to determine and prioritize business needs and requirements ensuring the development of solutions and/or online offerings in the agreed upon timeframe;
  • Provides technical input for product and service features that affect online strategy;
  • Manages implementation and support strategies for internal applications, including complex enterprise-wide systems, and/or Vertex online;
  • Reports on effectiveness of application systems, including system capacity planning, service level development and reporting, and support team structure and workload;
  • Ensures that client satisfaction is being monitored and continuously improved.
  • Research current best-practices and current technology solutions.
  • Interpret how the business strategy links to individual roles and responsibilities.
  • Establish effective processes and practices for knowledge sharing and communication.
  • Guide overall team activity to support team/business objectives.
  • Develop and direct plans for improving team performance.
  • Clarify how change will help the organization meet business goals and articulate benefits of change.
  • Make recommendations regarding appropriate staff levels and skills in order to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Achieve financial objectives by assisting with the preparation and management of the annual budget; scheduling resource utilization; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and maximizing opportunities for revenue enhancement (when applicable).
  • Enhance job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies; developing and/or managing proficiency in the latest personal productivity tools.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Determine appropriate resourcing of staff in order to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Define annual Key Performance Indicators aligned with corporate goals.
  • Manage and mentor employees on performance gaps, career development opportunities, and strategies.
  • Manage and coach employees on all human resource related processes including onboarding, performance management, succession planning, employee relations, selection, terminations, compensation and rewards.
  • Recognize others' contributions and share credit for success.
  • Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead development of program and initiatives within group to attain high employee satisfaction.
  • Prepare and manage budget as assigned; analyzes variances and initiates corrective actions to maximize operational performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding /experience of Operational measurements and best practices; planning and measuring an ASP site:
    • Disaster plans
    • Service levels
    • Maintenance windows
    • Staging and testing
    • Security
    • Monitoring, measurements, alarms, etc.
  • Working knowledge of networks and TCP/IP
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact with all areas of the business (clients, IT, development, support, sales, testing, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong process and project management skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office together with familiarity of common technology solutions and the applicability to specific client situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and manage time objectively
  • Must possess and exhibit emotional stability and maturity in the face of highly emotional and stressful situations.
  • Must be results oriented, customer focused and able to manage multiple high-visibility or high- impact projects simultaneously.
  • Sufficient knowledge of business communications, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail, and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Seven (7) plus years of experience in information technology with three (3) plus years of leadership experience
  • CNA, MCSE, or appropriate SQL DBA certification a plus
  • EMC certifications/training a plus
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
