Manager Field Integrity Services - Liquids (Pipeline Integrity) (Finance)



Position Description

The Field Integrity Services team has approximately 55 employees in the overall Kinder Morgan organization and is broken down into five groups. Field Integrity Services East, Texas, Central, West and Liquids. This position is the Field Integrity Services Manager - Liquids and supports the Products, CO2 and Terminals Business Units. The Field Integrity Services Manager - Liquids reports directly to the Director of Field Integrity Services and will manage on average 8 Integrity Engineers based in Houston and Tulsa. The team is responsible for the successful implementation of the Integrity Management Plan as it relates to the execution of In-Line Inspection assessments and the excavation/remediation program for the Products, CO2 and Terminals Business Units. The successful applicant should have a broad knowledge of pipeline operations, project management, leadership skills, in-line-inspection tools, pipeline construction and will be Proactive, Responsive, Knowledgeable, Forthright, Reliable and have a "One-Team" mindset. This position has daily interaction with team members, Risk Engineering, ILI group, Operations, Products Movement, Procurement and various vendors. The position also plays a major role in the forecasting and reporting of project costs.
Responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Daily interaction with team members to ensure assigned projects are thoroughly planned and successfully implemented.
  • Communicate project status to all stakeholders on a regular basis, ensuring that critical performance issues are identified early and elevated as necessary.
  • Manage and balance the workload of the team, reacting to changing priorities when required.
  • Develop and update L-O&M, Engineering Design, Construction and Equipment specifications and standards.
  • Explore, evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Associate with industry groups, technical committees, and suppliers.
  • Develop, monitor, implement, and forecast O&M and Capital budgets for both the team and all assigned projects.
  • Work with Company and non-company personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedules.
  • Promote open, ethical and continuous communications between various departments, customers, and team members.
  • Manage and develop a highly motivated work force and conduct individual performance evaluations.
  • Actively recruit and fill open positions.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and respond as needed during working and non-working hours.
  • Continuous Strategic planning.

Position Requirements

Education/Experience

  • 7-10 years of functional pipeline integrity experience required to include work experience, education, and/or training.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
Skills/Qualifications
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a large group comprised of professionals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Strong customer focus in dealing with Engineering/Pipeline Integrity, Project Management, Business Development, Product Movement, Operations and other internal and external groups.
  • Thorough understanding of liquids and CO2 pipeline system construction practices, risk management techniques, pipeline hydraulics, cathodic protection systems, pipeline cleaning, and in-line inspection tools and criteria.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of ASME Code for Pressure Piping, B31.4, and CFR Title 49 Part 195 design, construction, and engineering requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of liquids and CO2 pipeline operations, design, construction, and engineering.
  • Perform necessary engineering calculations to ensure compliance with associated pipeline design.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASME/ANSI standard specifications for piping, valves, flanges, fittings, etc. used in the construction of liquids and CO2 pipelines and associated facilities.
  • Ability to develop, read, and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State regulations governing the design of liquids and CO2 pipeline systems.
  • Strong presentation and report writing skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and respond as needed during scheduled and non-scheduled work hours.
  • Travel is required and working about 20% out of the office.
  • Ability to take on new projects and shift priorities on short notice.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge
  • Operational experience and knowledge of liquids pipeline hydraulics, measurement, and storage facilities and equipment.
  • Experience with incident investigation and reporting.
  • Knowledge of pipeline repair methods.
  • Experience preparing bid packages and evaluating bid proposals.
  • Experience with development and mentoring of new team members.
Working Conditions
  • The regular work environment will typically be in the office; however, work will at times require the manager to be outside at project sites, other work locations and exposed to extreme heat, cold and inclement weather.
