Position Overview

This position is responsible for leading the recruiting functions within the Midwest Region HR Department. Works with the HR team to maximize the efficiency of the department in support of the organizational goals and standards.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Post job openings internally and externally to create a pipeline of available candidates. Source candidates through job boards, social media platforms and other channels.
  • Maintains HR and recruiting records and related electronic databases such as applications, resumes, employment files; DOT qualification files, I-9 documentation and more.
  • Administration of new employee onboarding including offer letter preparation, coordination of pre-employment screenings and paperwork; communicating with applicants and hiring managers, conducting new hire orientations.
  • Works with the hiring managers to schedule, interview and select the best candidates for available positions.
  • Prepares and distributes recruiting related metrics, updates, and information and keeps operations and hiring managers informed on current data, trends and recommendations through electronic communication and regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Organizes and manages recruiting events, participation in job fairs, campus recruiting or other talent acquisition events or initiatives.
  • Leads the development and training for recruiting and hiring related topics for HR team and hiring managers.
  • Tracks and maintains a database of recruiting activities and monetary spend per operating company.
  • Provides outstanding customer service via phone, email or other communication when answering requests and questions. Responds to all inquiries timely and professionally.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor when dealing with critical and/or confidential information. Restricts discussion/knowledge of information to a "need to know" basis.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable state, local and federal laws related to human resources.
  • Complete project work as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; and 2-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is a plus.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Valid state driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to summarize data from different sources into a concise format that can be easily expanded and communicated to support initiatives.
  • Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach, work well in a team.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving, and receiving feedback. Must have ability to speak to large groups and possess effective presentation skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management at different levels.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, appropriate manner.
  • Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate/handle objects.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize office equipment including a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
Work Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • The environment is typical of an office setting.
