What we do: 

The Markets Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York implements monetary policy, collects market intelligence, and analyzes financial market developments on behalf of the Federal Reserve System, executes lender of last resort operations for depository institutions in the Second District, provides payments and custody services to foreign central banks, and acts as fiscal agent for the U.S. Treasury.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) seeks a dynamic and experienced senior leader to lead mission-critical operations as the Head of Domestic & International Markets (D&IM) function. D&IM is responsible for the implementation of domestic open market and foreign currency operations, reference rate production, and transacting on behalf of foreign and international monetary authorities. Additionally, D&IM monitors and analyzes global financial markets to inform the formulation and implementation of monetary and financial stability policy. D&IM also supports work on market structure and function in policy-relevant markets through sponsorship of industry groups and via forums with official sector partners.

Reporting directly to the Head of the Markets Group, you will work collaboratively with other leaders and stakeholders across the Bank, Federal Reserve System, and US Department of the Treasury as a broad and influential thought leader.

Your role as Head of Domestic & International Markets:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of managers and subject–matter experts that support critical activities, including but not limited to the effective execution of monetary policy and foreign exchange operations.

  • Provide inspiring leadership to cultivate a professional workplace environment that promotes open dialogue and debate, fosters collaboration, leverages diverse perspectives and expertise, and supports open and transparent communication.

  • Provide thought leadership regarding policy relevant themes and identify strategic issues for analytical and policy focus, informing and impacting policy development and implementation.

  • Promote a solid risk culture, ensuring business operations are well controlled, documented, and aligned with FRBNY, System and US Treasury policies.

  • Foster a nimble culture of continuous improvement, promoting innovative thinking in execution of operations and analysis.

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external leaders across various business lines, institutions, and agencies to support strategic decision-making that considers risk, policy, and operations. 

What we are looking for:

  • Experience successfully managing large initiatives and operations with a strong foundation in banking and financial services as well as directing high-performing, diverse teams of subject matter experts and people leaders.

  • Demonstrated leadership and depth of experience on issues related to policy-relevant financial markets, including from an analytical, operational, and policy perspectives. High aptitude and foresight to anticipate business issues.

  • Effectively partner and manage ongoing relationships with senior leaders across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and sustain strategic solutions that support the operational, analytical, and policy-driven framework.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distill complex issues succinctly and accessibly, navigate multiple viewpoints and garner support for new business initiatives and strategies.

  • Experience in directing the alignment of resources in support of the long-term strategic plan for the business and the Group.

  • Strong commitment to public service and the mission of the Bank, complemented by intellectual curiosity and a desire to engage deeply with complex economic and policy issues that impact the financial system and global economy.

Salary Range: $375000 - $440000 / year
