Project Accounting Specialist (Finance)

Who We Are Looking For:

The Project Accounting Specialist is responsible for billing projects for a segment of the Operations & Mangement business at Woodard & Curran (W&C). Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people. This position reports to the Project Accounting Manager. This position will initially be based in person at the St. Charles office, with the potential to transition to a fully remote or hybrid role .

What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:

  • Issue draft invoices and billing reports for projects, work with Project Managers (PM's) and Project Assistants (PA's) to edit draft invoices as needed,and produce final invoices for clients.
  • Understand billing moves and how they affect Payroll, AP, and Billing.
  • Void and reissue invoices when necessary, including posting to the correct accounting period.
  • Process project closeouts, including WIP and AR write offs.
  • Interpret client contracts in order to validate that the information received on PCFs is current, accurate and consistent.
  • Set up new projects with total compensation, cost budgets, and billing terms according to the client contract.
  • Update projects for changes in total compensation and cost budgets.
  • Research and resolve questions and/or issues concerning project accounting and provide analysis and backup for Projects/Contracts when requested.
  • Understand project revenue and profit and be able to discuss the process with PMs.
  • Act as back up to Project Accounting Specialists to cover PTO.
  • Produce ad hoc reports for Project Managers including financial reporting.
  • Assist with the annual audit.
  • Minimum annual travel required.

What You Will Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 1 year of relevant experience; or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in Deltek Vision or similar project accounting software preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of project accounting concepts and practices preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced deadline oriented environment.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve

  • Limited with Project Accounting Manager and Strategic Businnes Unit Controller guidance

$25.12 - $37.67 an hour

Pay:

This position's anticipated pay range is provided above; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.

Annual Incentive Bonus Opportunity:

Eligible positions may receive an annual cash bonus based on the role's organizational level, and is represented as a percentage range of eligible earnings.
