A Brief Overview

The Biomedical Engineering Intern/Technician is utilized in preclinical laboratory work activities related to assessing the output efficacy of medical devices.  This individual will be involved for planning and executing statistically driven experiments to determine biological effects of ultrasound through bench top synthetic materials and ex vivo tissue studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collection, tabulation, and analysis of pre-clinical testing data of Ulthera's current and future product lines.
  • Perform measurements with tools, instrumentation (e.g. oscilloscope), and error analysis.
  • Analysis of data as well as communication of experimental setup and results to SME through presentations and reports.
  • Develop benchtop metrics for therapy and imaging system performance.
  • Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and inventory.
  • Writing and revising laboratory work instructions and SOPs

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ability to test products, conduct mechanical measurements and use of inspection equipment. Must be able to read component drawings and design documentation.
  • Must be action-oriented with demonstrated customer focus and problem-solving skills and a focus on technical excellence, customer responsiveness and creative thinking.
  • Basic scripting and programming knowledge (e.g. MATLAB, LabVIEW, C++)

Preferred:

  • Experience coordinating tests in exercise and/or live tissue models
  • Experience with optical microscopy and image processing software

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or Related field) or High School Diploma or G.E.D. and enrolled in, technology or an engineering-related field, Technical Certification or equivalent trade school/college studies.

    Additional information:

    • Internship Dates: September 2025 to May 2026
    • Work Schedule: On-site with potential for hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
    • Hours: Minimum or 20hrs per week
