Maintenance Tech Apprentice (Finance)



Job Description:

The Maintenance Apprentice will follow a structured agenda that will include in-house, hands-on training with Maintenance Technicians along with formal industrial maintenance training. The Maintenance Apprentice will work with Day Based and Shift Technicians with expectations of developing the skills and abilities to progress into the role of Maintenance Shift Technician.

**Candidates for the program must be willing and able to work different shifts, based on business needs. Shifts may include days, nights, rotating shift, weekends. overtime and odd hours**

What are we looking for?

  • Strong methodical troubleshooting skills.
  • Good overall knowledge of plant flow, operation, and utilities.
  • Good theoretical knowledge and ability to learn mechanical systems and equipment and hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum systems.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and safety procedures.
  • Basic ability to operate machine tools.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in safe rigging techniques.
  • Skilled with the operation of equipment such as fork trucks, personnel lifts, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tool application and operation.
  • Good knowledge of GMP's and clean design methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on days and/or nights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Candidate will be required to attend Industrial Maintenance school at MDCC for a minimum of 1 academic school year (August - May). Classes are Monday - Thursday.
  • Candidate will be required to work at the site after class and Fridays to obtain a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of all safety and PPE requirements and have an excellent safety record.
  • Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of food safety practices.
  • Candidates considered for the program must have good performance records.
  • Candidates for the program must be willing to travel for training and/or Industrial maintenance school.
  • Candidates for the program must be willing and able to work different shifts, based on business needs. Shifts may include days, nights, rotating shift, weekends. overtime and odd hours.
  • The program will consist of classroom, shop, mentored, and "on the job training."
  • Must capture time accounted for through SAP Work orders.
  • Assist maintenance on activities during down maintenance days and site shutdowns.
